I came across a large piece of old mahogany and could not bear to cut it up. So a cunning plan was hatched to make it into a substantial coffee table. The piece was approx 75 cm by 60 cm and just over 6cm thick! The down side of the plan was how to overcome the ?check at one end of the slab? I tried to keep the piece whole but the check was deeper than I first thought. Plan B was hatched and I decided to make a feature of the split. I and hope you agree it turned out fine. The ?bow ties? are made from Holly and combine with Festool Dominoes (hidden) to join the pieces together. The stand is made from solid Mahogany with the legs being 12cm x 10cm!
